Here are some points to consider choosing a contract security company.
A contract security provider should have specialized and relevant experience. Each industry has its special needs, unique issues, regulatory environment and how security officers interact or doesn’t interact with the public. These are the critical elements when opting for a contract security services.
Determine whether the contract security service provider has local infrastructure capability and can deliver the services in the region you are looking for. This also means that the company would be able to recruit and manage in or near the area where the service is required.
Ensure whether the contract security has access to best practices used around the nation and in other industries and look for awards the company has bagged.
Check the company’s online reputation. Explore company’s Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages, as numerous customers or clients share their personal experience with the company. This enables you to decide to choose the company or not.
Cost is also one of the deciding factors yet is an important factor when selecting a contract security company. Do not opt for the most tempting lowest bid and you might also need to compromise on the security officer’s calibre.
Other things to consider while choosing a contract security service provider
- Check for their relationship with the local police and how cohesive are they
- Clarify each type of officer’s responsibilities as it varies from police’s duty from a security officer (which is limited to monitoring CCTV, manning posts, checking ID).
- Clearly indicate beforehand if security officers will be armed or unarmed
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn;
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.
